At CTJ Healthcare, Daily living support is provided in a shared living arrangement. We provide assistance with and/or supervising tasks of daily life to develop the skills of the individuals with complex support needs to live as autonomously as possible.
This shared living environment, is either temporary or ongoing, with a focus on developing the skills of each individual. Shared Living Space also includes programs that include daily tasks, community involvement, transit facilities, and employment assistance. Companionship and social interaction are crucial to stay healthy. At CTJ Healthcare, we provide integrated support for self-care, accommodation, food & activities in a group residence for short periods. Every participant of shared living shares one thing in common: they are built around the ideals of communal living, mutual support and the importance of “belonging” to a community. An alternative to residential housing, shared living matches individuals living with disabilities to community members who have opened their hearts and homes. We work closely with people and their families to arrange living situations that feel like home. Guided by their interests and needs, individuals are empowered to be part of the decision-making process. The model supports the development of natural supports and helps the individual attain maximum independence. Shared Living does not refer to a place, nor a “facility,” or a group home. Shared Living is not a “residential program” or a supported program with multiple staff working in shifts.
Shared Living experience
Participants in Shared Living experience more robust social networks that are meaningful. The natural support networks stretch outside the participant’s personal network to include the host family’s community connections.
